July 2019

This month has been taken up with knitting jumpers – who’d have thought I’d manage two in a month after never even knitting one before!

Ursa Sweater

The first was this beauty! I used Sirdar No1 aran in Washed Denim. It’s slightly thinner than what the pattern calls for but worked up with the perfect amount of drape. I made some adjustments to the pattern, such as missing out the faux seam on the arms, and it is just my style. I wanted a cropped jumper to throw on over dresses on cooler mornings and this is just the job! After braving DPNs for the sleeves I’m already planning my next. {Ursa sweater pattern can be found here}

Ranunculus Sweater

I saw Michelle from Forever Autumn choosing her yarn for this KAL and I just had to jump on the bandwagon! I’ve learnt lots of new stitches and have a new found confidence to try knits that push me out of my comfort zone. It worked up within a week using 6mm needles and mohair from For The Love of Yarn held double with 4-ply from Black Elephant. The colours I chose might not be the most exciting but grey is a staple in my wardrobe and a shade I will always wear. Working with mohair is always a treat and this cute jumper is as soft as a cloud. It is thick enough to mean it’s not transparent but thin enough to drape perfectly. My finished sweater is slightly shorter than I had hoped, meaning it’s more of a belly button grazer and not a top I can wear on its own. That being said, it’s the perfect coverup for the changeable weather we have now and the length hasn’t put me off making another. {Ranunculus Pattern can be found here}

Baby bonnet

Another of my moms pals is becoming a grandma so she asked me to whip up a gift. This cute bonnet is my new “go to” baby pattern by Croby Patterns. I made it in Drops cotton merino in mustard.

Aydaline Dress

I had the pleasure of testing this pattern for the lovely Little Bud Creations. I used up all of my cotton aran stash, which is why the colour placement is a little odd and the skirt is shorter than I’d have hoped. It was a fun make and I can’t wait to see Tabitha wearing it!
